What to Wear at: Cabin in the Woods

  • Posted by: angeli.krohmal

Human and nature are inseparable, and even the most avid city dwellers from time to time want to relax from the bustle of the city, to hear the singing of birds, the rustling of leaves, to feel the aromas of herbs and the murmuring of forest streams. Europe and America are famous not only for their fundamental metropolises, but also for the incredible beauty of nature with forests, where a vacation away from the noise, the huge number of people and the incessant race becomes almost curative. Many of us built tree houses as children, and now a cabin in the woods is a kind of retreat in the local way, where you can escape for a weekend or an entire vacation and absolutely do not keep track of time. Cozy evenings by a crackling fireplace watching your favorite movie or reading a book, barbecues outside, candlelight dinners, fishing or mushrooming trips, outdoor activities and even an outdoor Jacuzzi - all this splendor deserves the title of one of the best types of recreation.

The aesthetics of such real estate is special: along with the log cabin from which most of these houses are built, fireplace, wooden furniture, antique lamps there are all modern conveniences, and a slight vintage vibe in details such as dishes, decorative items, home textiles disposed to leisurely rest. You definitely don't want to be fussy or officious in such an environment, it's a home feeling combined with quiet nature right outside the window.

Women outfit for cabin in the woods

Whether you're taking a short break or traveling to a cabin in the woods for a few weeks, you need to think carefully about your closet (even if you'll be there alone). What to bring? You can't go into the woods in a black tie, and neither is a pantsuit.

We decided to collect a full-fledged selection of closet for the case of living in the forest and tried to take into account the change of weather and pay attention to comfort. For such cases, you can relax and not follow the dress code and rigid rules, and normcore and casual wearing variants of your outfits will be perfect for a vacation in the cabin. The main rule is to follow the temperature regime and inner relaxation.

Still, before you completely relax, let's think through your luggage together. It's great if it's your personal home - you can always leave a spare set of clothes there. But if you're in a different situation, it's better to make a list with everything you need and stick to it, making changes according to experience, occasion and season. We have already compiled it for you and hope you find it useful and enjoyable. Let's go!

T-shirts

A classic base in your favorite shades should be with you, preferably in several copies, including for sleeping. Choose natural materials and a loose fit for comfort.

Jeans

No matter how you look at it, jeans are with us almost everywhere, so if you are used to and feel comfortable in jeans even while chopping firewood - it's a must-have. The model of jeans should be chosen based on your usual preferences for the daily schedule of life, but too ripped jeans and an abundance of decoration will be inappropriate.

Pants

Pants made of wool, corduroy, tweed or even suede will add points to cozyness, especially if you want more soft fabrics and comfort. In addition to this, cargo pants are great, thanks to the large number of pockets you can safely go for a walk around the neighborhood without a bag. Joggers are also a versatile model that does not constrict movements.

Shirts

Of course we're talking about flannel shirts - yes, yes, those red plaid shirts - but you can choose another color, of course =) Flannel has great heat retention properties and is incredibly pleasant to the touch. As a lighter option for summer or indoors - a men's cotton off-the-shoulder shirt would be perfect.

Hoodie

Keeping warm with an oversized hoodie, especially a fleece one, is a great idea. Choose an already classic oversize because it doesn't constrict movement, especially if you're wearing a second layer of clothing. By the way, with the second layer full zip hoodie will work great.

Sweatshirts

If you don't like hoodies, then oversize sweatshirts will also be a great option. It's hardly a universal soldier that you can spend almost your entire forest vacation in.

Sweaters

Sweaters are almost the centerpiece. Tunic sweaters, high collar sweaters for cooler weather and even cardigans. Soft quality yarns and relaxed cuts, different types of knitting - and there you are looking relaxed and presentable at the same time.

Boots

Hiking boots are great, look out for models from sporty brands because you need lightweight hiking boots. We also heartily recommend Uggs (we talked a lot about them in our previous article, and we're obsessed with Ugg tazz chestnut). Combat boots, famous for their durability, are also a good option.

Sneakers

Choosing sneakers for such a vacation, pay attention to the sole. It should not get wet, and shock absorption should be at the highest level (fallen leaves after rain are especially slippery and there will definitely be a lot of mud). It is best to bring sneakers made of genuine leather or water-repellent materials.

Rubber boots

This is the best invention for wet weather! These boots are not afraid of mud and you can put on an extra pair of socks if it gets too wet.

Socks

It's time to get your grandmother's tall socks. If you don't have them, wool socks are a must. Socks with cool patterns are especially charismatic. It's time to have fun, not be serious!

Coats

We're not saying you need to go all out in your Chanel tweed blazer, but a practical waterproof duffle coat is the perfect outerwear for the cold season. It's best to opt for darker shades so you don't have to worry about getting dirty.

Jacket

If you want something more sporty and relaxed, a long parka jacket is the perfect option. Choose a model made of waterproof material and knee-length if you are going to spend a long time outdoors.

Hats, scarves, gloves

It's unlikely you'll need these accessories in the summer (unless you're in Alaska),but it's better to be reassured even in early fall. Even if you don't like hats, this is as good a time as any to look funny - opt for hats with bobos and mittens that you didn't love as a kid! Don't just rely on the hood of your outerwear, especially if the weather is changeable.

Swimwear

If you plan to swim in a body of water or pool/jacuzzi, it's worth bringing a swimsuit. Consider the weather: if it's sunny and you like to sunbathe, it's worth taking a two-piece swimsuit. But it's better to bring a couple of variants, for example monokini and as they don't take up much space in your luggage.

Thermal underwear

Often people think that thermal clothing is necessary only for severe frosts or for sports. But we think this closet detail is underrated. It is important to understand the thermal properties of this clothing. Today, manufacturers of thermal underwear create variants not only for different temperatures and degrees of activity, but also for moisture too. Choose a clearly appropriate set, because thermal underwear really warms enough (especially merino thermal underwear is famous for it) - you can not get a heat stroke on vacation because you dressed too warmly.
